Ann Curry

Ann Curry is a photojournalist as well as a journalist, author and has reported on conflict zones over the last forty-five years. Her focus is on human suffering as well as disasters. Curry has reported on wars around the world, including in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry is a journalist anchorperson for television, reporter and anchorperson that was born on the 26th of June 1956. Her most famous role was has been on Today is a National Broadcasting Co. morning news broadcasted program. Curry was renowned for the reporting she did about natural disasters as well as war broken nations. Curry's father was a naval officer within the U.S. Navy and her mother was Japanese. Her parents met while her father was stationed in Japan following World War II. Family members were constantly on the move because of the service of her dad in the military. Curry graduated from high school in Ashland Oregon. Her graduation with a journalist diploma at The University of Oregon in 1978. It is possible that she acquired an empathy-based way of communicating because of her experiences with diverse cultures in her early years. Curry's family relocated often, so Curry did not stay in one school for more than two year. Curry attended various schools including San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia and Virginia. Her final graduation was from Ashland high school. In Medford where she began her broadcasting career with KTVL Channel 10 as an intern. At the age 22, she was able to become the first reporter to be female at KTVL. She then moved up to anchoring and reporting for KGW, an NBC-affiliated station in Portland. In Los Angeles, she became an anchor and reporter for KCBS TV just four years after moving into the city. Two Emmy Awards were won during the six years she worked for TV station KCBS.
